Mission
Our Story
Organized in the fall of 2005, the Buffalo Scholarship Foundation (BSF), a recognized 501(c)(3) Not For Profit Organization, was formed to assist graduating seniors of The Villages High School (VHS) in pursuing their dreams of success in post-secondary education. A resident of The Villages, Mr. Arne Rotne can be credited with helping get this foundation off the ground. Mr. Rotne’s incredible gift of $10,000 as seed money helped jump start the foundation. The Buffalo Scholarship Foundation Board consists of five members.
We believe that VHS provides a great educational foundation, and the BSF attempts to assist in building upon that foundation by offering graduating VHS seniors a financial scholarship for post-secondary education use. During the Foundation’s 17 year existence, 900 VHS seniors have received scholarships totaling approximately $3,027,740.
In order to continue to assist as many students as possible, we are asking for your help. Your donation large or small, when pooled with others can make a significant difference. Keep in mind that the contributions are a charitable donation and therefore tax deductible. Donations of $1,000 or more can be “named” to honor a loved one or organization based upon your wishes. Please complete and return the form on the brochure below with your gift or call the Foundation at (352) 259-2350 to arrange a personal visit.
Each year the Buffalo Scholarship Foundation Board meets with staff from VHS and selects the scholarship recipients.
